Description
This repository contains the data and R code associated with the manuscript “The expansion of pesticide use in Spain is associated with declines of farmland bird populations”. The study examines temporal trends in agrochemical sales and their associations with farmland bird population dynamics in Spain. The repository includes data and code for: (1) temporal trends in fertiliser, fungicide/bactericide, herbicide and insecticide sales; (2) long-term population trends of 11 farmland bird species; and (3) analyses of associations between annual pesticide-sales trends and population dynamics of these species and the Farmland Bird Index (FBI). Long-term bird population trends were analysed over 2002–2021, whereas agrochemical trends and pesticide–bird associations were analysed over 2011–2021. The repository also includes a README describing the files and analytical workflow.
