WHOIS domain lookup

Find out who registered a domain through which registrar, when it was created, when it expires, its status and its name servers. We ask the official RDAP service of the registry first and fall back to classic WHOIS where RDAP is not available. We don't show or store owners' personal data.

We don't show or store personal data of domain owners.

What it shows

  • Registrar, creation and expiry dates.
  • Domain status and name servers.
  • RDAP first, classic WHOIS when a registry has no RDAP.
  • Works for .com, .net, .org, .io, .rs, .mx and most other zones.

Questions

Why is the owner hidden?
Since GDPR, most registries and registrars hide owners' names and contacts. We don't show personal data even when a registry returns it. To contact the owner, use the contact form or email relay offered by the registrar.
When does a domain expire?
See the expiry date in the result. After it, the domain usually goes through a grace period with the same owner before it can be registered again.
Why doesn't it work for .es domains?
The .es registry has closed WHOIS to the public. For .es domains we give a link to the official dominios.es lookup.
What is RDAP?
The modern replacement for WHOIS: the same information in a structured format from official registry servers. Where it exists, we use it.
