Version of 16 October 2026.
This policy explains what personal data DataHunter processes when you use
datahunter.store, why, and what rights you have.
1. Who we are
Valerii Frolov, an independent software developer ("we"). He works as a
private individual: no company has been registered for datahunter.store. If
one is, we will name it here. Contact: [email protected].
2. What we collect
Most tools work only in your browser. The JSON and Markdown editors, the
PDF and video editors, the QR code generator, Saga, XNote, Flowtime, the
breathing exercise and the microphone test keep what you do on your device
(in your browser's storage) and do not send it to us.
Some tools need a server, and then we process:
- Dataset search: the words you search for. Our server sends them to the
catalogs we search (Hugging Face, Zenodo, data.gov.uk and, on the Serbian
version, data.gov.rs) without your IP address, and keeps the results in
memory for up to 6 hours so that a repeated search is fast. Links to other
catalogs (Kaggle, Google Dataset Search, data.europa.eu, datos.gob.es) open
their own search with your words.
- Network tools (what is my IP, DNS lookup, WHOIS, SSL checker): the domain
or address you check. To show your own IP address and provider, your browser
also asks ipify.org, and our server looks the address up in public DNS
(Team Cymru, through the Cloudflare and Google resolvers) and in the internet
registries' RDAP services. The SSL checker connects to the site you entered.
- Proxy checker and proxy list: the proxies you enter, including a login and
password if you give them, go to our server and are used only to run the
check; they are not stored. For guests we keep the IP address for up to one
day to apply the daily limit.
- Collaborative editing: the document is held in our server's memory while
the session is open and is deleted 30 minutes after the last participant
leaves.
- File transfer: files go directly between the two browsers, encrypted;
the key is in the link and never reaches us. Our server only passes the
connection messages between the browsers, which contain their IP addresses.
To connect, browsers also contact the STUN servers of Google and Cloudflare.
- Account (optional): your email, your name if you give it, and your
password (stored only as a hash). Sign-in is shared with our other services
(INGDG and AiSearch) and runs on sso.ingdg.com, on our server in Russia (see
section 4). In your account you can keep files and top up your balance:
then we store the files you upload and the amounts, dates and status of
payments, the address we generated for you and the transfer amount.
Top-ups are made only in cryptocurrency, so we never ask for card details.
- Support messages: what you write to [email protected].
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and logs of
requests. We use the IP address for a short time to limit how often a tool
can be called.
3. Why and on what basis
- To run the tools and your account — performance of the contract with you
(Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- To keep the site secure, limit abuse and fix errors — our legitimate
interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- To understand how the site is used — your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), using
the statistics described in section 6.
- To send news and special offers by email — only if you gave separate
consent, which you can withdraw at any time. See the
We do not sell your data.
4. Who receives your data
- Cloudflare protects and delivers the site, so every request passes
through it.
- Dataset catalogs and network services listed in section 2 receive what
you search for or check, as described there.
- Hosting: our servers are in the European Union (Germany). The site and
our API run at Hetzner; the files in your account are kept in Hetzner Object
Storage in Falkenstein. Some auxiliary services currently run on our servers
at Beget in Russia and are being moved to Germany: the shared sign-in service
(sso.ingdg.com: your email, name and password hash), OpenPanel statistics and
support email (what you write to [email protected]).
- Payments: top-ups are made only in cryptocurrency, USDT (TRC-20) or BTC.
Each payment gets its own address that we derive ourselves. We check incoming
payments through public blockchain services: TronGrid for USDT and
mempool.space for BTC. Blockchain transfers are public by nature; we do not
try to identify the sender's wallet.
- Google (Google Analytics), if you accepted statistics.
- Authorities, when the law requires us to disclose data.
Some of these recipients are outside the European Economic Area. For
Cloudflare and Google, the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework
or on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses. The services that
still run on our own servers in Russia (listed above) hold only the data needed
for them to work, and we are moving them to Germany. When you delete your
account, we also ask our server in Russia to delete any copy of your data held
there, and for this we send it your account identifier and a hash of your email
address.
5. How long we keep it
Account data and your files — as long as you use your account. When you delete
your account or ask us to delete your data, we delete it within 14 working
days, except what the law requires us to keep (for example, payment records).
Search results and collaborative documents are kept only for the time stated
in section 2. Technical logs are kept for a limited time to fix errors and
prevent abuse, and are deleted automatically when their size limit is
reached.
6. Cookies and statistics
Cookies are small text files the site saves in your browser.
Our own cookies:
NEXT_LOCALE— the interface language you chose;- session and sign-in cookies — to keep you signed in between pages.
The site also keeps your tool documents, the theme and your choice about
statistics in your browser's storage. They stay on your device.
Statistics:
- OpenPanel, running on our own servers, counts visits;
- Google Analytics (Google Ireland Limited) shows which pages and tools
visitors use. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses. We keep
its event data for 14 months and do not use it for advertising.
OpenPanel and Google Analytics are switched on only if you click “Accept” in
the cookie banner. You can decline there, change your choice later with
“Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page, or block cookies in your browser
settings.
If you block all cookies, you will not be able to sign in.
7. Your rights
You can ask us to show you your data, correct it, delete it, restrict its
processing, or give it to you in a portable format. You can object to
processing based on our legitimate interest and withdraw your consent at any
time. You can also complain to the data protection authority of your country.
Write to [email protected]. We answer within one month.
8. Security
Connections to the site are encrypted (TLS). Access to servers is limited to
the people who maintain them.
9. Children
DataHunter is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect
their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The current version is always on this page. We
announce important changes at least two weeks before they take effect.
